About Mike Ball
Mike Ball
Welcome,
My name is Mike Ball. I have been working in the Houston landscape industry since 1986. I started (DBA) Mike’s Lawn Service at the ambitious age of sixteen by knocking door-to-door and passing out flyers. After seven successful years with the “learn by doing” approach I was given the opportunity to sell my company and join Texas Environments. Under the tutelage of Brian & Rodney Warner I gained a tremendous amount of knowledge, from how to manage multiple crews to Commercial / Residential landscape and maintenance techniques.
With the constant urge to learn and grow in the Green Industry and strive to go from good to great, I have endeavored to learn something new from as many leading professionals that I can. Spending some time with Grant Stephenson, owner of Horticultural Consultants. Grant is one of the worlds leading authorities on cold hardy Palm trees, Bamboo, and Cycads. This proved to be one of the most rewarding times of my career. Grant taught me so much on the identification, care, and installation of Palms, Bamboo, and Cycads. Through this instruction, I gained a new appreciation for plant life.
I spent a couple of years working as Commercial Landscape Project manager under Dean Carpenter, owner of Houston Landscape Unlimited. This is where I honed my skills managing and installing large commercial landscape and irrigation projects. Many of these projects ranged in value from $50,000 to 700,000. During this time I became more aware of water conservation and it's importance by managing the CALSENSE Irrigation Management Systems, homeowner association’s, and for master planned communities.
I was instrumental in developing irrigation maintenance programs for LMC, one of the largest commercial maintenance companies operating within the Houston area. I went on to become Branch Manager overseeing nine maintenance crews. With the large amount of recyclable material being brought back to office by twenty one crews, I helped design a system where we separated green waste, cans, plastic and paper which saved money on dump fees and help save the environment. My family and I strongly believe in Reduce-Reuse-Recycle and I bring that same philosophy at home and every job site I work.
Who is Mike Ball? I would say I am passionate about my work and always go the extra mile to do the job right. I care about the quality of the service and the overall satisfaction of my clients. Give me a call to discuss your next project.
